“I’m not sure about opening up to a complete stranger.”
“What if I don’t like the therapist once I meet them?”
“I don’t want to get all emotional and talk about my feelings.”
“Therapy is way too expensive, and I worry about confidentiality.”
“I seriously don’t think anyone can help me.”
The above statements may be real life examples that have run through your head when considering therapy. Because let’s be honest… when it comes to the mental images and expectations we may have of finding a counselor and going to therapy, we often think of what we have seen on television, right? For example, an office with a couch. Lots of Kleenex for the inevitable tears. Some person dressed in office type attire taking notes while you talk about your feelings. Am I close?
Enter us, Scottsville Counseling Center. Why? Because our focus is on the strengths and solutions that help you feel ready to schedule your session, lessening any fear and anxiety you may have. Thinking therapy is too costly? Or maybe you worry about using insurance due to confidentiality? We keep rates low and affordable at $35.00 to $45.00 an hour, giving you the option to have greatest choice and voice in determining next steps for your journey. This also offers you a prospective path where you may not need to use your insurance, meaning only you and your therapist are privy to your dialogue during sessions. Looking for approaches to therapy that go beyond sitting in an office? From meeting outdoors at a local park to yoga, meditation, and walk/talk therapy, our practice incorporates different ways to connect with our clients to build comfort and ease. Our team is also selected based on our approach to our work as we value working side by side with our clients to create a collaborative environment. In other words, it takes a village to build the journey you seek, so we work together to determine and achieve your goals each step of the way. As we often share with our clients, you hold the expertise needed to shape the future you seek as no one will ever know your life as you do.
Adding to this is the question of… what if I don’t like my therapist? We advise our clients that from day one, this journey is about you. You have to feel comfortable, seen, heard, and supported. If ever the therapist you are paired with is not a good fit, we are committed to finding you someone that works well. We sometimes have clients call us looking to use insurance and/or locate someone who can work with them to prescribe medication. Our goal with each and every call is to ensure you find the assistance you seek, whether with us or with a provider we know and trust for referral needs. Because at the end of the day, this work is about you and how we can be of help in helping you to feel connected to the best resources possible.
